Seemingly no time has passed since our last summary and here we are already at the middle of week 2. Many, many tournaments have concluded since then, so let’s not waste any more time. First though, the European Open Tournament looks all but decided right now. Zhang Tao 5p is still dominating the ranks with no sign of stopping anytime soon. We would be remiss not to address the theoretical chance that Kim Youngsam 7d or Zhaonian Chen 7d might pull off some wins against the pro, but this possibilities seems very unlikely considering the performance Mr. Zhang has displayed so far.
The top contenders for second place are Mateusz Surma 1p and Li Xiaoxi 2p with six points each but Kim Youngsam, Sun Peifang 7d and Lee Kibong 7d might still have a word to say about this.
Apart from the Euro Open, we’ve had plenty more results of course. Li Xiaoxi won the Ladies tournament handsomely and Zhang Tao won both the 9×9 and 13×13 tournaments. Winner in the children’s tournament was Liu Yanjun 4d from China with 6 out of 6 wins. She participated in the division under 12 years old. Second place and U16 winner was Chen Feiyang 2d from Germany with 4 wins.
